Homemade Almond Milk

Run out of milk? Make a nut milk!

I have loved making my own nut milks ever since I discovered this back in 2013. It’s not hard and takes no time at all.

Makes approx. 1L

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds (soaked overnight)

  • 3 cups water

  • 1 -2 medjool dates (pitted), depending on your preferred level of sweetness

  • pinch of vanilla powder

  • tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend for 1-2 mins until you get a smooth milk consistency.

  2. Pour the milk into a nut milk bag or muslin cloth, inside a bowl or jug.

  3. Using your hands squeeze the milk through the bag like you are milking a cow!

  4. Squeeze as much of the milk out until you have just the almond meal remains.

  5. Pour from bowl into a glass bottle or jar and store in the fridge up to 3-5 days.

Notes

Use the leftover almond meal (pulp) to sprinkle over your breakfast or set in the oven at 150C to bake and use in baking or in bliss balls.
