Hey! I’m Sarah
Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach
There’s no surprise, learning about health and wellness can be time consuming, overwhelming and down right confusing. With all the conflicting information out there about what to eat, what not to eat, how many hours are optimal for sleep, how many times a week should we workout, what chemicals are toxic - it’s enough to have you throw your hands up in the air and give up!
But you being here says something to me…
You’re most likely ready to change things up? You’re done with feeling tired, bloated and uninspired. You’re stressed, exhausted, and feel like you’re running on empty doing all. the. things. You’re ready to do better, not just for you, but for your family too.
You’re tired of the daily grind, you want to wake up with that bounce-outta-bed energy. You want so much more for your life. You want to be fit and healthy NOW and into your twilight years and you’re ready to take agency over your body.
BUT you’re not sure where to start or who to trust.
If any of that resonates then we have a lot in common because that’s exactly how I felt all those years ago.
The truth is our society is not setup to empower us in our health. Convenience rules the day. There is little emphasis on prevention…and little disregard for what long term exposures to things like stress, toxins and poor food choices, are doing to us.
It’s taken me years of personal development, learning new and unlearning old information, that has led me to this new understanding about what exactly it means to be “healthy”. And to realise my state of stress and overwhelm was the root cause of a lot of my symptoms - especially my gut health.
Our healthcare system is incredible at ‘break-fix’ solutions and acute conditions or trauma, but not prevention and getting to the root cause. They compartmentalise the body and use a reductionist approach to help, which can be helpful in emergency situations, but not for the majority of us living with chronic conditions.
As Hippocrates said more than 2,000 years ago;
“All disease begins in the gut”
For me this showed up as:
Poor immunity
Psoriasis (and other skin issues)
Fungal overgrowth
Adrenal fatigue
Tinnitus
Mild insomnia
Aches and pains
Anxiety
Panic attacks
Fainting spells
Food sensitivies
Leaky gut
SIBO …and a host of other digestive issues.
I pushed my body to work crazy hours for 8 years in corporate with the motto “work hard, party harder”…I ignored the signs my body was giving me to slow down and honestly I didn’t really understand how to nourish it. I would just use over the counter medication to help me feel better…
I found myself in and out of hospital a few times toward the end of 2012 - newly married, recovering from multiple knee operations and a stressful job…
I made some drastic changes to my lifestyle in the proceeding years. And it all started by staying curious, being open and trying something new. Cleansing my system of all the years of toxicity (emotionally and physically), working with a naturopath who really took the time to listen and understand my needs & my history and helped empower me to make changes was what lit the fire in my belly to want to do the same for others.
What I’ve learnt along the way has led me to a point where I never want to go back to feeling subpar. I don’t want to just survive and get through the day like I used to, I want to THRIVE. It’s this new mindset that keeps me on track, even when I stumble (no one is perfect!).
I’m here because I took the first step…which led to another step, and another.
Now I’m here to help you do the same.
